Noteworthy Books I read in 2014 and the ratings I give them.
Crux – Ramez Naam – B+ As good as the first in the series, Nexus.
Takedown Twenty – Janet Evanovich – C- When is something going to actually HAPPEN in this series. Getting really old.
Pandemonium – Scott Sigler – A Awesome ending this this amazing trilogy!
Brilliance – Marcus Sakey – A- This guy just gets better and better.
The Martian – Andy Weir – B+ LOTS of science and I mean LOTS, but a good story. Looking forward to more from this new author.
The Winter People – Jennifer McMahon – A If you have never this woman you should.
The Chase- Janet Evanovich – B+ Very entertaining, Better than the Plum series now.
The Accident – Chris Pavone – B Good story and premise, but a bit hard to read due to the jumping all around in time aspect of the book.
Conspiracy of Faith – Jussi Adler-Olsen – B- Part of the Department Q series. Quite long, took me a while to get through it as not quite as good as the others in the series.
Fire and Floor – Victoria Scott – A 1st in series, dystopian story, very good!
The Testing – Joelle Charbonneau – A 1st in series, dystopian story, very good!
Independent Study – Joelle Charbonneau – B+ 2nd in series, not quite as good as the first, but still very enjoyable.
The Kill Switch – James Rollins – B Tucker Wayne and Kane novel. It was OK, kind of dragged on at the end.
The Lincoln Myth – Steve Berry – B Bery books are always good and sometimes great. This one was just good.
Those Who Wish Me Dead – Michael Koryta – B+ Good book. Great characters that you really cared about.
Mr. Mercedes – Stephen King – A So Awesome! A real creeper for a main character.
The Farm – Tom Rob Smith – A Way different from the Child 44 series, but just as good. Will appeal to a wide audience.
The Three – Sarah Lotz – C- Great premise for a story. I stuck with this almost 500 page monster thinking/hoping for the ending to make it worthwhile, but it is not. I do not recommend. Very disappointing.
Boy Nobody – Allen Zadoff – B Series premiere. Good YA series about a 17 year old assassin.
Graduation Day – Joelle Charbonneau – B Series Finale. Good ending.
Identity – Ingrid Throft – A Excellent 2nd in this series.
Top Secret Twenty One – Janet Evanovich – C Again, nothing new here. Some funny moments, but its getting old.
The Catch – Taylor Stevens -B
The Beast in the Red Forest – Sam Eastland – A Excellent!
Magicians Land – Lev Grossman – B Final installment in the trilogy.
Ready Player One – Ernest Cline – A Excellent video-game type story. Hope there is a sequel.
Stephen King – Revival
